Rappers, Death Boxes, and a tasty looking Hippo – Trailers You Need to See

Hey guys, I’m back! It’s been a month since I did one of these, and I do apologise – but it’s back with a few tweaks and a different outlook on life!

There’s going to be a few more bad trailers in these lists, so I can suggest to you what is worth missing, it may not be as linear before (as it can lead to some weaker weeks), and I will also be trying to lean towards movies with a UK release date/what might actually make it over to us, while also bringing you some Indie flicks that may never get wide releases anywhere.

So as an apology for its belated return TLRUK is bringing you not one, not ten, but SEVENTEEN articles….oh, wait…four?….FOUR Trailers You Need To See articles!

Each time I lay out the most intriguing, necessary or just plain awful trailers you may not have noticed yet – from wannabe blockbusters to budding indies, documentary to drama, the western nations to the east I will try and capture a quick, unranked, snapshot of what you need to see!

This looks brilliant, its a shame it got booed at Cannes (before it started, the Netflix logo got booed, not the actual film). From the guy who brought us Snowpiercer comes a movie about a young girl and her best friend. I’m excited, this story looks interesting, the cast is insane (bet you didn’t notice Jake Gyllenhaal in there) so whats not to like? When do we get it? Very soon! 28th June on Netflix

The Glass Castle

You know this reminds me a little of Captain Fantastic, with a bit more going on…but I don’t know if that’s a good thing. The Glass Castle is based on the memoirs of Jeannette Walls so you know its got to be a little grounded and emotional. At first look I missed that’s its going to be full of time jumps and despite the quality of Brie Larson, Naomi Watts and Woody Harrelson it could be hard to follow. Let me know what you guys think on this one, i’m intrigued to know if i’m alone on this one. When do we get it? 6th October

Right, I know I might get some hate on this one but this trailer makes the movie look like it should be a straight to Movies 24 release. Its just so weak and pandering. It bothers me because the premise is a good one, something that should be told and enjoyed. Jacob Tremblay is one for the future and I barely recognised him but I’m worried Roberts/Wilson are phoning this in. I hope I’m proven wrong. When do we get it? 8th December

Wish Upon

In my notes when I first watched this I simply wrote “Horror and shit” and that’s exactly what this is! A teenage girl discovers a box that carries magic powers and a deadly price for using them, no more to it needed. Joey King (the main actress) and Ki Hong Lee (Maze Runner Trilogy) have good futures ahead, and i think the simple but unique premise to lead to at least a few thrills and jump scares! When do we get it? 28th July

Patti Cake$

This trailer is great, but it could be better, because this movie is better! I was lucky enough to see this movie a couple weeks ago and it is great fun, the music in it is a great, Bridget Everett (You may have seen her on Inside Amy Schumer) and Danielle MacDonald are awesome. The trailer plays on the ‘festival darling’ vibe, dulling the sound and emphasising a journey. While it is all these things its also a fun ride full of unique rap moments and Sahr Ngaujah channeling his inner 2 Chainz. When do we get it? 1st September

So that’s my list!

Do you think I missed anything out?

Did I neglect any movies?
