The men behind the Late Review have been a little busy this week watching all the star wars films to remind us of what the hell it is. But while we wait for possibly the biggest film of all time. I have found sometime to go mining on Vimeo and find this gem of a short film.
The Ventriloquist is more than it seems on the surface. It is story of men not ready to make the jump. A man who doesn’t believe in his own ability and a man who struggles to communicate in a digital world It was hand-picked by Kevin Spacey (who plays the Ventriloquist) to help launch his Jameson First Shot Programme with the assistance of Spacey’s production company Trigger Street Productions , which gives young film makers the chance to work with world-class acting talent. In its first three years it has matched 2 Oscar winners and another nominated one with young film makers longing to get their name out but allowing to make well written scripts.
Give it a watch. It’s a powerful performance by Spacey and it looks wonderful. The other films from the first three years of the competition are all worth a watch too. And you can do it all while waiting for Star Wars to come out.
